My father in law got us a Bullet Express juicer, and I’ve been having fun with it making fresh juice. So far I’ve concocted an orange/carrot juice mix, as well as green energy monster, which is made of celery, mint, apples and spinach. Was good, but not as good as the orange/carrot mix. I figure this is a good way to get in our fruits since wifey doesn’t really eat fruit much, so I have to either peel the fruit for her and put it in front of her face, or make a fresh juice concoction. Now that sounds like when I was a kid, and mom dukes had to peel an orange, cut an apple, or pear and stick it in my face or I wouldn’t eat any fruit!
So we got suited up and did some fire hose training, putting out a car fire (simulated of course) as well as search and rescue with a smoke machine being used in place of live fire. I made my first “rescue” today, saving a baby infant from the burning building. Ok fine, it wasn’t REALLY burning, and it wasn’t a REAL baby. Haha. But I still found it, and you can’t see anything once you’re inside. It’s very smoky, and all you have is your hands and knees to help you find any possible occupants as well as constant communication with your partner and command. Maybe I’ll get Grace to hide a cabbage patch kid somewhere in the house with the lights off while I practice my search and rescue skills at home! lol.
Down at Eastern for Fire training today. Gonna be strapping on the gear again! This is what it’s all about! Until I actually get on the trucks, I’ll be putting in time at communications doing my thing…..
Dang. Looks like if I stay on the same shift, I’ll be working Dec. 23 – 27. But looking on the bright side of things, it will probably not be as busy during those days. HOPEFULLY. And at least I get New Year’s off. Got a chance to check out 911 dispatch today and listen to the type of calls they get. Alot of people calling for cars getting broken into, domestic disputes, etc. There was actually a Scotia bank that got robbed and no cars were able to respond because they were all dispatched to Marc Garneau C.I. for a caller who said he had a gun and was going to shoot a girl there. Being in the building across the street, I could see all the cars, about 30 of them that set up around the school. They didn’t find the caller, but the school was on lockdown for quite sometime. Very interesting to watch.
Well, 2 weeks of training under my belt! Starting to get used to waking up at 5:30am for 6:30 start. I’m hitting the sack soon at 9:30…hopefully! This week is gonna be fun……we’re heading down to the training academy on Thurs and get to suit up with full bunker gear and everything! It’s been awhile since I put on the gear! Last time was in Oakville for the skills test back in the summer. We’ll be shadowing Police dispatch tomorrow for 2 hours. Gonna be interesting to hear the types of calls that they get. And this week is pay day too!!! GYEAH!!!!
I am happy to report some great news today. It is with much happiness that Allen Iverson has been released from his contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, and fellow suck-out Stephon Jackson was traded to the BOBCATS!!! LOL…..the BOBCATS!!! First, A.I. did not garner much interest from many teams on the market this past summer, and only signed with the Grizz who were looking to boost ticket sales. He “says” other teams were interested, but I doubt that. This guy is a cancer on your team. He definitely still has skills, but what team is willing to sacrifice team unity and cohesion to add this little one man gang? I believe his days in the NBA are done. Stephon Jackson? Wanted to be traded to a contender, sucked out on his team, his coach, and he gets traded to the Bobcats. I love that!!! Have fun in Charlotte Stephon Jackson you loser!! Wonder if Jack and A.I. tweeted each other about their recent downturns in life??? HAHAHA
My buddy Neil rented out the court at Hoopdome which is located at Downsview Park for a friendly 2 hour run. Got a good sweat going on and lots of fun!
Grace and I went to see a few houses last Friday with our friend Mike. We saw a house that we really liked on Merrill Ave, west which is near Coxwell and Danforth. It’s a semi-detached, 2 bedroom, 2 washroom, with a finished basement. Cozy for a small little family. Listed price was $369,000. We’re thinking about putting in an offer. We’ll see what happens…
