Watched this movie tonight, Food Inc, and was very turned off about how a few LARGE corporations control what we eat. There is so much “crap” that is put into our foods, it is absolutely ridiculous. The treatment of animals, to make them bigger, fatter, faster, for us to consume, and therefore generate MORE money for these large food corporations is insane. Makes me not want to eat any meat at all anymore. Grace and I have started buying our meats from a store called Fresh From the Farm, which is located at Donland’s and O’Connor. Their meat comes from mennonite farms, not from large corporate slaughterhouses. The cost is not that much more than what you get from big grocery stores such as Loblaws, Metro, Sobey’s, but much more worth it. The animals are not locked up, are free to roam, are fed grass in the summer, and are not injected with growth hormones. You can never be too safe with what you eat. Read your labels, make sure you wash your hands, and try to buy local when you can.

Happy Chinese New Year to all the Chinese peeps out there! My reign of bringing in dollar bills (AKA red pocket envelopes) are over! Apparently now that I am married, I have to dish them out to all the kids and single unmarried peeps. The Olympics are here, and Canada’s Jennifer Heil won our first medal, a silver in freestyle mogul! Hooray! Was watching Women’s hockey for abit, and they were downright abusing the Slovaks 5-0 in the first. On a sad note, my condolenses go out to the Georgian Luger who lost his life yesterday while practicing. 21 years old and a full life ahead of him. Can’t imagine how his family must feel. Devastating. Hopefully no one else will get injured on this dangerous track. NBA All-Star weekend started as well, with Nate Robinson winning his THIRD slam dunk title. T-Dot’s DeMar DeRozan was also in the contest, but ended up in 2nd. I didn’t get a chance to see it, but heard it was rather blah. So I guess I didn’t miss much.
Ok, as much as I want to go somewhere hot, the right deal has not come along so it looks like we will be sticking it out in the frigid cold. BUT, we got some small trips coming up, Ottawa in March perhaps? NYC in March…..and Cali, (SF) end of April, beginning of May. Goin, goin, back, back to Cali, Cali! Haven’t been back to Cali since 2006? No updates on the house hunt yet, but we are going to look at a couple houses tonight.
