Happy Chinese New Year!
Happy Chinese New Year to all the Chinese peeps out there! My reign of bringing in dollar bills (AKA red pocket envelopes) are over! Apparently now that I am married, I have to dish them out to all the kids and single unmarried peeps. The Olympics are here, and Canada’s Jennifer Heil won our first medal, a silver in freestyle mogul! Hooray! Was watching Women’s hockey for abit, and they were downright abusing the Slovaks 5-0 in the first. On a sad note, my condolenses go out to the Georgian Luger who lost his life yesterday while practicing. 21 years old and a full life ahead of him. Can’t imagine how his family must feel. Devastating. Hopefully no one else will get injured on this dangerous track. NBA All-Star weekend started as well, with Nate Robinson winning his THIRD slam dunk title. T-Dot’s DeMar DeRozan was also in the contest, but ended up in 2nd. I didn’t get a chance to see it, but heard it was rather blah. So I guess I didn’t miss much.
Trippin’
Ok, as much as I want to go somewhere hot, the right deal has not come along so it looks like we will be sticking it out in the frigid cold. BUT, we got some small trips coming up, Ottawa in March perhaps? NYC in March…..and Cali, (SF) end of April, beginning of May. Goin, goin, back, back to Cali, Cali! Haven’t been back to Cali since 2006? No updates on the house hunt yet, but we are going to look at a couple houses tonight.
Goals.
What are your goals for 2010 and beyond? I read in a article before that Puff Daddy, AKA P. Diddy would write down his goals, and not stop until he achieved them. Well, he’s certainly right just like his song, “Can’t nobody hold me down”. What are my goals for 2010? Well, I’ve stated my physical and health goals, to drop 8 pounds, eat healthier, and spend more time at the gym. Which is why I STILL haven’t bought a PS3 yet. That would take time away from the gym. I also want to be more active in the community. I volunteer for a reading club every Sat, at this church, St. Cyprian at Leslie and Finch. I help kids improve their reading skills and play games with them. I want to get back into coaching, basketball to be precise, but we’ll see when the opportunity arises again. I want to OWN a home, and start a family, hopefully with a squad of lil ballers. I want to travel, (this might be difficult however if we are planning to start a family). I want to finish my undergrad degree, whether it be at York or another institution. This is something that I will have to research. Alot of lofty goals, dreams, and aspirations, but I know I can achieve them all. But I have to start by writing them down. And check them off once I achieve them.
What to do?
I was supposed to go help out at the daycare this week, but that got nixed, and I’m not needed anymore, so more free time on my hands! What to do?? I’m sure I have alot of little things to do, I’ll just have to make a list. I know I need to bring my car in for an oil change. Check. Grocery shopping. Check. Gym. Check. Ok, that’s 3 things. Have to think of some more. So it looks like the possibility of a sunny destination vacation will have to wait since Grace and I are saving for a house. The alternative option is to do a road trip to NYC in March. YEAH, ROAD TRIP!!! I will need to borrow someone’s GPS cuz last time we drove down to NYC, we got lost NUMEROUS times. And I was NOT a happy camper. SO I am going to make sure that I get the GPS for the trip. NYC BABY!!!
Leisure Suit time……..
Finished training yesterday! Now I have 6 days off until I go back on shift! Wow, training took 7 weeks, can’t believe it’s finally over! The sad thing about it is that it’s not so close anymore, I have to drive FURTHER now to get to work! DOH! Gonna help out at the daycare from Mon-Thurs, and I’m gonna hit the gym hard this week! Still gunnin’ for that 6 pack! I have until March to lose 8 pounds! Not that I NEED to lose weight really, but I’m trying to get back to my pre-marriage weight which is 185. I can DO IT!
To go or not to go??
One more week of training than I’m off for 6 days. I go back to work on Friday Jan. 29. I’ve been trying to find a last minute deal to go somewhere hot. Looking for something in the range of $1000 all inclusive for 2 people. Rather difficult to find something that good. But Grace and I are also trying to save for a house, so if we DO end up going somewhere, it will take away from our savings. What to do? Grace has been nonchalant about going anywhere, she’s ok if we don’t. I am too, since winter has been alittle on the milder side. I guess we’ll see if any last minute deals come up that are worth taking. But Grace also has to let her work know in advance too. If we don’t end up going anywhere hot, maybe we’ll just take a road trip somewhere. I’m always up for a road trip!
New 2010 Health Plan
I know the New Year’s is when people make resolutions about losing weight, getting back to the gym, blah blah blah, but for me, this is a first! I used to weigh 185 pounds, and now I am currently sitting at 196? I think I gained a couple pounds over the holidays. Anyhow, I am giving myself a 3 month deadline, until April 1, to get back to my pre-wedding weight of 185. Why is that you say? Well, I just want to be more healthier and more SLEEK. lol. Gone are the days of trying to bulk up and have all these BIG muscles! I’m more concerned about endurance, being cut! I think watching those guys fight on UFC has given me motivation! Not that I am trying to become a fighter or anything! I am putting more emphasis on cardio work. doing classes at the gym, running on the treadmill, playing squash, bball, anything that will get my heart going and body sweating! Another important thing is diet! Cutting out beer, (I know I’ve said that many times before), fast food, carbs after 7pm, eating more, but in smaller portions, and making better choices when eating out. We’ll see what the difference is on April 1! I’m determined to make this goal, so I’ll have to work hard! There are times after work where I feel tired, and all I want to do is come home and relax, or take a nap, but it’s all about discipline and pushing yourself to your limits. That’s what I have planned for 2010. Going on new journeys yet to be travelled, and reaching untold limits.
2010. Big things happening……
2009 was a good year. But 2010 is looking to be even better. Grace and I are looking to purchase our first home, planning on starting our own family, and I also hope to get onto the Fire trucks! It seems that everything is starting to fall into place for me. It’s taken quite abit of time, but I know everything happens for a reason, and you just have to put your trust in the Lord. Some of my prayers and wishes for 2010: For my friend Jeff Lam to be granted with a job, for my friend Darren to find satisfaction with his job or find something that is more meaningful to him, for Keith and Beka to enjoy their wedding planning and to make that ultimate sacrifice to each other on their wedding day, for my best friend Eric to find out what his next step is, (job and career-wise), for Grace and I to find a house that is right for us, and to fill it with love and joy of a child, or CHILDREN, lol.
Congrats!
I am dedicating this entry to the engagement of our friends Keith and Beka! Grace and I have been wondering when Keith would take this monumental leap and pop the big question! Guess 2009 ended on a big bang for you two! And of course, a bigger and better 2010 to look forward to! Have fun planning, and try not to get too stressed out, leave it all to the “man” upstairs because He will provide. Enjoy the engagement period!
